Golfpark De Haverleij
Golf between the castles of Haverleij
Since 2002 Golfpark De Haverleij has been the green heart of Haverleij, the residential area north-west of 's-Hertogenbosch that borders the Maas. Architects Sjoerd Soeters and Paul van Beek drew up the master plan: nine modern residential castles and the moated Slot Haverleij, spread over 225 hectares, with the golf course in between. From the fairways you keep seeing the castles from a different angle.
The course is open, with wide fairways, ponds and dykes. The yellow and red loops together form an 18-hole course with par 72. There is also a 9-hole par-3 course, which you can play without a course permit or handicap. The 2003 clubhouse is inspired by an early medieval fortress with an earth rampart, and the terrace lies next to the last hole. The course is run by the Hollandsche Golfclub.
What this means for your round: the wide fairways give you room off the tee, but water comes into play on two thirds of the holes. With two par 5s per loop, the key decision is usually on the second shot: go for it or lay up.
