Golfpark De Berendonck
A parkland course with water and slopes near Nijmegen
In the De Berendonck recreation area near Wijchen, close to Nijmegen, lies a parkland course with water, woodland edges and natural changes in elevation. The 18 holes consist of a yellow and a red loop of nine holes each; the course opened in 1986 to a design by Joan Dudok van Heel. Since 2000 there has also been a 9-hole short course with only par 3s.
The park is part of the Hollandsche Golfclub and has a brasserie, a driving range and buggies.
What this means for your round: water is a big factor: on eight holes of the yellow loop and seven of the red, it lies within reach of the line of play. Yellow measures 2,676 metres from the yellow tees, par 35, with two par 5s; the hardest hole is the 7th. Red is longer: 2,918 metres from the yellow tees, par 36, also with two par 5s; the hardest hole is the 5th. The par 3 course measures 594 metres, par 27, with holes from 48 to 98 metres; water comes into play on three holes.
