Golfclub Kromme Rijn
Narrow and green, between railway and river
Golfclub Kromme Rijn was founded in 1985 and started modestly, with a driving range and three par-3 practice holes. In 1998 the club moved to the De Brakel nature area between Bunnik and Zeist, where Gerard Jol designed the current 9-hole course. Between 2020 and 2024 the course was thoroughly renovated, together with course architect Michiel van der Vaart.
It is a 29-hectare parkland course, with elevation changes, water and plenty of planting. The fairways are narrow and there is little room to spare. Two holes make the course memorable: a par 4 along the railway, where you wait a moment when a train passes, and the last hole, where the Kromme Rijn river runs right across the fairway. The course is par 35 and has held A-status since 2001.
What this means for your round: on all nine holes water lies within reach, and the narrow fairways reward precision over length. With three par 3s and two par 5s the course is varied for its 2,797 metres from the yellow tees.
