Golfclub De Dorpswaard
Golf outside the dykes in the floodplains of the Maas
Golfclub De Dorpswaard lies outside the dykes near Kerkdriel, in the old river bed of the Maas between 's-Hertogenbosch and Zaltbommel. The course was designed by Gerard Jol. It is a 9-hole course with two tees per hole: if you play 18 holes, you tee off from a different spot the second time round, so the back nine feels like a new course.
Water and raised greens make the course a challenge, and the river is never far away: at high water the course can flood. That is why the clubhouse stands on stilts, with a sunny terrace overlooking the holes. Next to the main course there is a par-3/4 course. The club is part of the Golfalliantie, a partnership of eight courses.
What this means for your round: both rounds are just over 2,900 metres from the yellow tees. The back nine has three par 5s and, at 3,014 metres, is the longer of the two. To hold the raised greens, take one club more rather than one less.
