Golf De Gulbergen
Golf on the roof of Brabant
Golf De Gulbergen lies on the Gulbergen estate between Mierlo and Nuenen, partly on what the club calls the highest point in North Brabant. The grounds have up to 45 metres of elevation change, which is rare in the Netherlands. The club was founded in 1990, together with the construction of the first nine holes: today's Old Course, which lies partly on a former landfill site. Between 1996 and 2001 the park grew in phases to 27 holes.
Each loop has a character of its own. The Libellenbaan stands out for its many ponds, while the Sprookjesbaan has hilly holes on and around the "Roof of Brabant". Together those two make an 18-hole course with par 70. The Old Course is shorter, with par 32, and suits beginners. After the round there is restaurant De Hooghe Bergh.
What this means for your round: on the Libellenbaan water comes into play on every hole; on the Sprookjesbaan it is mainly the slopes. Uphill or downhill easily makes a club's difference. The caddie in CaddiQ takes that into account.
