De Strijensche Golfclub
A polder course in the Hoeksche Waard
In the middle of the Hoeksche Waard polder lies De Strijensche Golfclub: a 9-hole main course with par 35 and a separate 6-hole par-3 course. Twice round is par 70, and the course has A-status from the Dutch Golf Federation (NGF). Bunkers and water shape the game; in a polder that is no surprise.
The course belongs to the Hage family. The parents built it, and since 2015 three sisters have run the club. The days when the course regularly flooded and had to close are over: new drainage has improved that a great deal. The clubhouse houses restaurant Roseval, which cooks with produce from the Hoeksche Waard. For practice there is a covered, floodlit driving range, a chipping green and a putting green.
What this means for your round: on all nine holes water lies within reach of the line of play. At 2,737 metres from the yellow tees the course is compact; accuracy pays off more here than distance.
